Cecily, Beckett, and I went to This Is The Place Heritage Park this weekend. This is "Digger" teaching Beckett how to pan for gold!

"Digger" gave Beckett payment of a sucker and a butterscotch disk for the gold he found!

Hives update

I am proud to say that the hives are doing a lot better! I was able to take a wonderful bubble bath with my favorite bubble bath (picutred-- Thymes lavender yum!) for the first time in almost three years! I am still too nervous to go hot tubbing. Last time I got a pedicure it gave me a few hives still. The hot water seems to bring them out.

My dermatologist told me that there is new research that shows that a significant number of chronic hives sufferers have a Vitamin D deficiency. There have been reports that if the Vitamin D levels are increased that the hives will improve. I got tested, and wouldn't you know it, my levels are low. So, I am starting on Vitamin D supplements ASAP to see if it helps. I will cross my fingers! :)

Beckett was playing Peek A Boo during lunch! Cecily and I tried out a new sushi place. I can't even remember the name, but it wasn't the best place we have ever been too. Oh, well.

Beckett tried on a coat, but he wouldn't stay still for long enough to get a good picture!

We found the cutest little Mickey Mouse rocking chair that was just Beckett's size! He loved it! Too bad it was $50.

We took Beckett to Gardner Village to look at all the witches. He learned how to say witch! It was so cute! It was funny because it sounded more like "wish". He loved to look at the witches and point at them, but he did not want to touch them or get near them! We tried to sit him on this bench and he was not too happy! So Cecily sat on the bench with him, and she put him on the witch's lap. He was trying to get away as fast as he could!

He did have fun walking all over the place though.

And of course, he loved the little pond, he wanted to go swimming, but it was a little cold for that. :)

I went over to visit Cecily and Beckett yesterday. Beckett can even say my name! Well, almost. He calls me Des or Deser sometimes. Deser is so cute! Lol.

I haven't had anything too exciting happening lately, So here are some pics of my nephew Beckett. He is almost one (his birthday is in less than a month!).

This is his first haircut. I can't believe how good he was. I think he was just so curious about what was going on!

Cecily, Beckett, Jessica, Jordyn, and I went to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy today! It was extra fun because they have a new penguin exhibit that was only three days old! We all had a lot of fun!

Chronic Hives for Two Years = No Fun...

No, those aren't a picture of my hives, but they look pretty close! I have now been suffering from almost daily breakouts of hives for two years. Not really an anniversary that you would want to celebrate. I do have to say that the current medication that I am on has made my condition bearable, but I would still like to not worry about breaking out in hives randomly for no reason.

I just went to the dermatologist last week and he is starting me on some new medication. Most of you probably already read about my enjoyable (not) experience with getting my blood drawn on facebook. Luckily I didn't get any bruises from all those pokes! Pretty amazing!

The new medication I am starting is called Enbrel. (pictured above) The doctor told me that I would be getting a pen autoinjector, but when I got the medication home I have pre-filled syringes. Yikes! The third picture is of the syringe. I am proud of myself because I actually was able to inject myself with it, and I didn't even freak out (much). It was kind of stressful, but I follwed the instructions online and it went okay.

My doctor studies chronic autoimmune hives cases like mine, and he has seen a lot of success with Enbrel. He said that two of his patients had hives for over 20 years (I can't even imagine that, knock on wood) and Enbrel helped them be hive free in 6 months. I hope to be another one of those success stories! Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

This weekend I got the chance to watch Beckett while Mom, Dad, Cecily, and Ryan went to General Conference. Beckett was really well behaved, and he didn't even have any diaper explosions while I was watching him. (Just before and after lol). Anyway, he has decided that he loves to eat things, especially his hands. This video proves it!

I am excited to go to Idaho later this month for Alexis' baby blessing. I will get to see Alexis and Max! It is so fun being an aunt, it is the best thing ever!

Beckett is only 2 1/2 months, but he is more than twice as big as Alexis! When Alexis was at the hospital, the nurses weighed Beckett and he was 14 1/2 pounds!

This past Thursday I went to Lehi to visit Cecily and Beckett. We had lots of fun going to lunch, shopping, and just hanging out.

Home From Hebgen Lake!

We had a great time at Hebgen Lake this year. I was happy to spend some time with my adorable nephew, Beckett.

I saw some beautiful scenery. This is one of the boulders at Quake Lake.

This is the buffalo that I had to drive by on the dirt road! When we saw him on the way home, he was walking in the middle of the road I was driving on. He did not want me to drive past him, he kept speeding up so that I could not pass him! He kept looking at me over his shoulder too! This is the cabin that we stay at every year. It is right on the lake and we always have so much fun. Thanks Mom and Dad for taking us on vacation! I had a great time!

I am getting ready to leave Utah to head up to Idaho and then Montana. My family has a tradition of visiting Hebgen Lake every summer. We are going to have so much fun, like we do every year!

This picture is of Elder Jenkins, who is Cecily's brother-in-law. I just happened to be working at the checkpoint when he came through on his way to the Philippines. He was doing well, and he was really excited to finally be able to fly out.

The doctor said that Beckett is a robust little boy! He has lost one pound since he was born, which is a little more than they would like. He is going back to the hospital to check out his bilirubin levels on Saturday. He is in pretty good health overall, and we love him!!!

Cecily and Ryan are the proud parents of Beckett Thomas Jenkins! He is so adorable and we all love him so much! He was born June 16, 2009. He was 19 inches, 8 lbs and 12 oz. He loves to sleep, but I was able to get a couple of pictures with his eyes open!

My mom and I went to the store yesterday to buy some baby boy things. We are in the process of replacing all of the baby girl things. We thought little Beckett would be a girl, but everyone is pleasantly surprised! Thanks to his relatives he doesn't have to wear dresses and pink outfits!

I saw this pic online and I had to post it because it was so funny! Well, in a sad way. Really, $13 a week doesn't do much one way or another for me. I guess I can afford to go out to dinner one more time a week now! Lol.
All of these so called stimulus plans are just super frustrating to me, mostly because it seems like it really isn't doing anyone any good. (Except maybe some CEOs somewhere).
Plus, Obama announced that he wants to cut the deficit in half in the next four years. How is that going to happen when we are spending money faster than we can print it???

Now that the news is out I can post it on my blog too! I am so excited to announce that I am going to be the aunt of three babies this year! Yes, Cecily (and Ryan), Mark (and Ginger), and Eric (and Joanna) are all having babies! My mom is so excited, first no grandchildren for so many years, and now there will be three. Of course, you already know that Cecily is having a girl, Ginger and Joanna won't know their baby's sex for three more months probably. I am already saving up to buy some great baby presents :)

I decided to update my blog since it has been awhile. I just put in my application for manager at work, so wish me luck! I think that I have a good shot at the job if I can get an interview. I will keep you updated:) It is pretty snowy lately, and who doesn't love animal pics? Here are some winter pics, but the Alpaca is my favorite, he looks so silly.

Merry Christmas everyone! Tonight (Christmas Eve) Addam and I are going to his mom's for dinner with his family. Tomorrow morning, we are going to Christmas morning at his grandma's house. Then I am driving all the way up to Idaho on Christmas!!! Of course, there is a big snowstorm in the forecast, hopefully it doesn't make travelling too bad.
I am excited to see my family. Cecily and Ryan are having a baby, due June 30th. (Who can beat that for a Christmas present???) Everyone is really happy for them, especially me! Mark and Ginger will be in Wyoming, but there in spirit. Eric and Joanna will be celebrating their first Christmas together! Mom and Dad are excited to have us come visit.

I am working on Halloween, but it is for a good cause. One of my co-workers gets to take his 2 and 4 year olds trick or treating. It is usually fun to be at the airport on Halloween anyway, all the kids and dogs are all dressed cute. :)

My mom is in town to take care of my grandma and my uncle Ross. We all went to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Grandma said that she has never seen a dog show before, and Ross loved it! It is hard for us to predict which movies they will like. :)

We also went with Cecily and Ryan to the Cheesecake factory, Yum! Addam came along with Cecily, Ryan, Ross, Grandma, and Mom to Tepanyaki. Tepanyaki is one of mine and Addam's favorite restaurants. Addam and Ryan both caught the shrimp in their mouths when the chef threw them. :)

All in all, a nice weekend. It was fun to spend so much time with my family :)

Here is a funny story from my trip to Minneapolis:

I was able to get a seat in the exit row. (Yay! Extra leg room!) The flight attendant came over and was giving us the safety talk, and after a minute she just looked at me and asked "How old are you?" To which I responded (of course) "28!" She looked shocked and then she awkwardly started asking the other people in the row how old they were too. (My co-worker was on the other side of the aisle and she is 22, but apparently I look a lot younger lol!) The funny thing is that you have to be 15 years old to sit in the exit row.

So, the question is how old do I really look? I wouldn't have ever guessed 15 lol!

Sorry for the lack of recent updates! My computer is completely broken and I have been using Addam's laptop for most of my Internet access in the past two weeks. I haven't been able to do everything I usually do. Plus Addam's laptop is a Mac, and I am not as knowledgeable about those lol. I am going to get a new computer tomorrow and a digital camera (finally) so now I should be able to do more regular updates! Yay!

I just came to a sad realization this morning when I started getting hives in the shower. I probably won't be able to go swimming at all this summer. I can barely take a shower without getting hives. Staying in the water too long makes me break out. Its not like I had a lot of big swimming plans for the summer (Addam doesn't know how to swim anyway), but usually we go swimming at least one day when we are at the cabin. I really had not even thought about swimming until now. :( Sigh....

Today I went to the doctor about my hives again. If you don't already know, I am suffering from Chronic Idiopatihic Urticaria. That is a fancy name for getting hives every single day and having no known cause. I have been suffering since mid-December. Back then, I was covered head to toe and sometimes my whole face and hands would get all swollen. I have improved a lot since I started on the immune suppressant therapy, but I am still getting some hives almost every day. At least there haven't been any more middle of the night trips to the ER! Now, I mostly get the hives on my hands and waist.

The doctor today started me on a new drug, Dapsone, that I can take with the Cellcept. It was originally for leprosy, so that is interesting. Hopefully it will make it so that I don't have any hives at all. As a bonus, if I had any leprosy hanging around I guess it would help with that too, lol.
